Job Description:
The successful Research Assistant will be primarily responsible for characterizing molecules and their biological activity from Axikin’s portfolio focused upon allergic inflammation. Experimental techniques include running experiments in a wide range of biological disciplines, including biochemical and molecular analysis, cellular assays, and in vivo work. This also includes record keeping of experiments carried out, data summaries and graphical and statistical analysis when appropriate. Research Assistants will also be responsible for various day to day operations of the department, including ordering and maintaining reagents and supplies, and monitoring of equipment to ensure proper functioning. The successful candidate will be an integral member of an interdisciplinary team designed to facilitate the advancement of various drug discovery projects of the company.

Education and Experience:
The successful candidate for the Research Assistant position will possess a B.Sc. or M.S. degree in a Biological discipline with significant exposure to hands-on laboratory practices, preferably including 1-2 years of either full-time practical experience or part-time internship. Experience in cell culture is required, and experience in flow cytometry, and basic biochemical and molecular techniques is preferred, as is prior in vivo work. Industry experience is a plus, however candidates with experience limited to academic settings will also be considered. The successful Research Assistant will have a strong understanding of experimental design, and background in either immunology or pharmacology will be beneficial. The Research Assistant position will require the practice of safe and clean laboratory techniques, excellent oral and written communication skills, the ability to work in a group as well as independently, and be able to adhere to strict timelines.
